Missouri LGBT Bias Claim Can Move Ahead After High Court Ruling

A Missouri man’s claim that a company rescinded his job offer because he’s gay should move forward, the Eighth Circuit said after a U.S. Supreme Court decision that LGBT workers are entitled to federal civil rights protections.

The high court’s decision on June 15 bolstered lawsuits across the country in which gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender workers sought bias protections under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Mark Horton’s case against St. Louis-based Midwest Geriatric Management was one of the challenges that rose to an appeals court awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision.
