Two Native American, Christian Minnesota hospital employees who objected to workplace trainings on anti-racism and gender identity lost their free speech and discrimination suits.
Joseph Norgren and his son Aaron Norgren both failed to allege that they were treated differently than similarly situated employees, the US District Court for the District of Minnesota ruled Wednesday. They also failed to show that the Minnesota Department of Human Services commissioner’s email urging all employees to focus on the training and “brave conversations we need to have,” or her supervisory conduct, violated their First Amendment rights.
