Workers who say five mining companies stiffed them on overtime pay for duties completed before and after their official shifts reached a $2.6 million settlement resolving their wage claims.
The deal with Alpha Metallurgical Resources Inc., Marfork Coal Co., Spartan Mining LLC, Aracoma Coal Co., and Paramont Contura LLC provides at least $50 to each of the more than 560 workers who opted to join the Fair Labor Standards Act collective, according to settlement documents filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
