Minimum Wages Set to Rise in Several States, Cities

Many workers across the country will start the new year off with pay raises, thanks to state-level legislation or ballot initiatives that establish higher minimum wages.

By Bloomberg Law’s count, there are at least 19 states and 20 cities and counties that are boosting their minimum wages on Dec. 31 or Jan. 1. California has the most localities with minimum wage increases, as at least nine cities and towns in the Sunshine State are boosting their pay floors to between $12 and $15.
