More than 2,800 contract workers who provided temporary housing and other services to Afghan refugees at a New Jersey military base are owed $16 million in back wages and nearly 25,000 hours of sick leave time, the US Department of Labor found.
The DOL’s Wage and Hour Division said it conducted 75 investigations involving Disaster Management Group LLC and 61 of its subcontractors, finding it failed to pay proper prevailing wages, benefits, and overtime, among other violations of federal law.
