Michigan Supreme Court Picks New Chief Justice From Its Ranks

Michigan Supreme Court Justice Megan K. Cavanagh, whose father led the court in the early 1990s, will succeed current Chief Justice Elizabeth T. Clement after she steps down in the coming weeks.

Cavanagh was unanimously chosen by her peers on the court to serve as the next chief justice, after Clement steps down no later than April 30 to become the new president of the National Center for State Courts, according to a Thursday statement from Cavanagh.
