Michigan’s Civil Rights Commission will vote Jan. 28 on whether to seek a formal opinion from Attorney General Dana Nessel (D) on its position that state law prohibits LGBT discrimination.
If the agency does seek her input, Nessle would have the opportunity to reverse the opinion of her predecessor, Bill Schuette (R), who said last year that the commission’s 2018 reinterpretation of the state’s civil rights law was illegal.
