Michigan farmers are launching a novel legal challenge to block a health order that mandates Covid-19 testing for migrant workers, arguing the rules disproportionately impact Latinos in violation of the U.S. Constitution.
In an agriculture industry call Thursday, attorneys for the Michigan Farm Bureau—the association representing Michigan’s second-largest industry behind auto manufacturing—pushed to enlist 200 farming operations to join and fund a lawsuit against an order that could drastically affect the fall harvest.
