Michael Kors Moves California Workers Class to Federal Court

Michael Kors Inc. urged a federal court Wednesday to hear a proposed class action of workers in California alleging the fashion retailer failed to pay minimum and overtime wages, and provide meal and rest breaks.

The complaint, originally filed in California state court, alleges violations of the state’s Labor Code. Michael Kors removed the complaint to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

The company is headquartered in New York, it said, and the aggregated amount in controversy is approximately $10.7 million, including waiting time and wage statement penalties, unpaid minimum wages and overtime, and missed rest ...
