Workers who staff shops at Miami International Airport will be entitled to an hourly minimum wage of at least $13.23 under an ordinance passed July 24 by the Miami-Dade County Commission.
The minimum wage is effective immediately but only applies to leases signed on or after the date of passage.
County commissioners created two tiers of minimum wages for the airport workers. Employers that do not provide health insurance benefits must pay an hourly wage of at least $16.40.
