Mexico’s Labor Costs Rank Lowest Globally In 18 Manufacturing Industries, BLS Finds

In comparison with the United States and nine other countries, Mexico has the lowest compensation costs in all 18 manufacturing industries studied, according to an analysis published by the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“This cost is one of the important factors used in evaluating international manufacturing competitiveness,” both in the manufacturing sector as a whole and in specific industries, BLS researchers said in an article in the June issue of BLS’s Monthly Labor Review, posted June 30 on the agency’s website.
