MetLife Worker Snubbed for CPO Slot Alleges Age, Race Bias (1)

A former data privacy specialist at MetLife Group Inc. alleges the company didn’t promote him because of his race and age and because he complained about a lack of diversity.

Tony Spires, who is black and was 45 when the position opened up, says he was being groomed by then-Chief Privacy Officer Joseph Trovato to eventually succeed him.

When Trovato was out, Spires stood in for him, including at meetings, according to the complaint, filed May 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
