MetLife Sued by DOL for Info on Missing Beneficiary Searches (2)

The U.S. Labor Department is suing MetLife Inc. for documents related to its failure to distribute pension benefits to more than 13,000 recipients.

Three years after the life insurance, annuity, and employee benefits provider announced that it had been using a faulty system to contact pension benefit recipients for at least 25 years, the Labor Department under new Secretary Marty Walsh is petitioning the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York to force the company to comply with the latest of two administrative subpoenas for documents it issued in July 2020 and January this year.
