Metropolitan Life Insurance Company must pay disability benefits to a health system worker halted during his incarceration for attempted murder, a California federal judge ruled Wednesday.
Rick LaLonde oversaw sterile supplies for Providence Health & Services until February of 2017, when he quit working after being hit by a U-Haul that ran a stop sign, according to court records. He underwent a number of medical procedures—including spinal surgery—and suffered from mental health problems and suicidal ideations.
