Meat Processor JBS Foods Cited by Regulators for Arm Amputation

The amputation of a worker’s arm at a JBS Foods Inc. beef processing plant in Greeley, Colo., has led to OSHA proposing a $174,566 fine against the company.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration released the JBS citations Thursday following a request from Bloomberg Law.

The worker, at the end of a shift on Feb. 17, was cleaning around a moving conveyor belt when the worker’s clothing was caught in gears driving the belt, leading to the amputation, according to one of the OSHA citations.
