A National Labor Relations Board ruling yesterday represents a huge victory for McDonald’s in a labor case that was seen as a threat to the business model of the fast-food giant and other franchised companies.
No Joint Liability: The labor board in a 2-1 decision ordered an agency judge to accept a settlement offer giving back-pay to workers allegedly punished for participating in certain protest actions. The offer also absolves McDonald’s of any joint liability. The board’s Democratic member suggested the Republicans handed the business an easy win without good cause.
