Employers in Massachusetts will have to pay women the same wages as men for similar work beginning in 2018 under a law signed Aug. 1 by Gov. Charlie Baker (R).
“I am pleased to sign bipartisan legislation to create a more level playing field in the Commonwealth and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to earn a competitive salary for comparable work,” Baker said in an Aug. 1 statement.
The law aims to end pay discrimination toward women, who generally receive less money than men in comparable jobs.
