Massachusetts Advances Pay Transparency, Equity Reporting Bill

Massachusetts would require pay transparency in job ads and potentially mandate wage data reporting by gender and race, under legislation that’s advancing toward the governor’s desk.

The state Senate passed the proposal (S.2468) Thursday on a 38-1 vote, after a different version won nearly unanimous approval in the Massachusetts House on Oct. 4. The two chambers need to agree on matching language for the bill before it can go to Gov. Maura Healey (D) for her signature.
