Mass General Vaccine Objectors Fail in Appeal to Get Jobs Back

Eight employees at a Massachusetts hospital system who object to being vaccinated against Covid-19 failed to convince the First Circuit to stop the facility from firing them pending their appeal of religious discrimination claims.

Massachusetts General Brigham Inc. prevailed—for the time being—in a suit brought by employees protesting their employer’s denial of requests for religious exemptions from a mandatory vaccine policy.

The employees sued the hospital for denying their individual exemption requests, claiming religious discrimination under Title VII. Four also sued under the Americans with Disabilities Act based on denials of their medical exemption requests. The system has granted religious ...
