Marriott Wage Row Tossed After Judge Reconsiders Remand Order

Marriott International Inc. is free for now of proposed class wage claims after a federal judge took a new look at an order that would have sent the suit back to state court and dismissed the complaint.

The hotel chain correctly pointed out that the US District Court for the Western District of Washington used the wrong standard when analyzing removal last year, Judge Richard A. Jones said. The case actually belongs in federal court, but the worker didn’t sufficiently allege wage violations and must fix up the complaint before things can move forward, the opinion said.
