Marriott Settles DOL Race, Gender Discrimination Probe for $630K

A Marriott-owned convention center in Nashville agreed to pay over $630,000 to end a Department of Labor investigation into its hiring practices, which the agency alleges discriminated against candidates based on race and gender.

The DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs found that Marriott Hotel Services Inc. discriminated against female, Black and Asian candidates for housekeeping positions at its Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, according to a settlement made public Tuesday.
