Marine Services Company Settles Disability Discrimination Suit

Eagle Marine Services Electrical and Refrigeration has agreed to pay a former job applicant $45,000 in back pay and damages to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Louisiana, the agency said Tuesday.

The company allegedly withdrew a job offer after finding out through a company-ordered medical examination that the applicant had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and took prescribed medication for treatment, which violates the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to the EEOC.
