Mapco Settles Female Convenience Store Managers’ Pay Lawsuit

Mapco Express Inc. will pay more than $1.1 million to settle a collective action alleging it paid female convenience store managers less than their male colleagues, after a federal court in Tennessee upheld the parties’ settlement agreement.

Joy Vasser and Amy Lusane sued under the Equal Pay Act, alleging that the gas station and convenience store chain systematically underpaid female managers compared to male managers with identical responsibilities. In 2021 the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee denied Mapco’s motion to dismiss.
