Manulife CEO Says Labor Still Tight as Firm Seeks Tech Workers

Manulife Financial Corp. Chief Executive Officer Roy Gori said the labor market for tech talent remains tight, even amid a wave of layoffs from major companies in the industry.

The Canadian insurer and asset manager, known in the US for its John Hancock subsidiary, is still in hiring mode and facing a “challenging labor market” as it looks to enhance digital capabilities, Gori said earlier this week. Manulife had about 38,000 workers at the end of 2021, up 1,000 from a year earlier and 4,000 the year before that.
