Manufactured Home Companies Settle EEOC Suit for Biracial Worker

Cavco Industries, Inc., Palm Harbor Homes, Inc., and Palm Harbor Villages, Inc., will pay $135,000 to settle a discrimination lawsuit filed by the EEOC on behalf of a biracial worker in Texas, the agency said Tuesday.

A sales consultant at a Palm Harbor Homes location was harassed and fired after disclosing he had a biracial family and refusing to engage in conversations disparaging Black people, which violated Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, according to the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
