Lyft Drivers Lose First Circuit Fight Over Arbitration, Sick Pay

Lyft Inc. drivers must arbitrate claims that they’re owed employee benefits, and they’re not entitled to a court order directing that they be treated as employees with sick leave rights, the First Circuit ruled Friday.

The drivers don’t qualify for a Federal Arbitration Act exemption for transportation workers engaged in interstate commerce, according to a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
