Lyft Aims to Avoid Class Action in Misclassification Suit

Lyft Inc. asked a federal district court in Massachusetts to compel individual arbitration in a proposed driver misclassification class action, pointing to recent decisions tackling whether ride-share and delivery drivers are engaged interstate commerce.

Melody Cunningham filed a proposed class action last month in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, alleging the company misclassified her and other drivers as independent contractors. She argued this classification has caused wage, hour, and overtime violations.
