Love’s Travel Stops Settles Overtime Suit for $3 Million

Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores Inc. will pay nearly $3 million to settle claims it unfairly denied a class of employees overtime pay, after a federal court in Pennsylvania approved the deal Wednesday.

The plaintiffs alleged that Love’s misclassified its “operations managers” as managerial employees exempt from the overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Love’s agreed to pay $2.95 million to settle the collective action. A total of $37,500 would be awarded to the six lead plaintiffs, and about $1.45 million in fees and costs would go to the plaintiffs’ attorneys at Hepworth Gershbaum & Roth PLLC, ...
