US Citizenship and Immigration Services received enough online registrations for specialty occupation H-1B visas to carry out a random lottery to pick recipients, the agency announced Monday.
Selected registrants can submit full petitions for the visas for fiscal year 2024 starting April 1. USCIS didn’t immediately share how many visa registrations it received from employers before a March 20 deadline, but the number has grown rapidly year over year since the online registration was rolled out in 2020.
A congressional cap limits the number of H-1B visas available each year to 85,000, including 20,000 reserved for individuals with advanced degrees. ...
