Los Angeles Hotel Workers Sue Rental Agency Alleging Lost Wages

Home sharing company Synergy Global Housing LLC is violating a Los Angeles ordinance regulating short term rentals in the city, hurting the hospitality business and causing hotel workers to lose wages, a suit filed in California state court alleges.

A proposed class of over 10,000 Los Angeles hotel workers say Synergy, which offers fully-furnished short-term accommodations, isn’t complying with a city ordinance that limits home sharing to primary residences, prohibits property owners from creating short-term rentals in areas not zoned for transient use, and requires hosts to register for permits with the city.
