An advisory panel of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen has agreed to send a tentative contract to members for a ratification vote, a move that decreases the threat of a national rail strike.
The advisory board unanimously adopted a resolution Monday to send the tentative agreement to members, according to a copy of the measure released by the union Tuesday. The board’s approval makes it more likely that members will approve the agreement, though the panel pledged to “be on the picket line with membership” if the proposal fails.
