Local Teamsters Leaders Sign Off on Tentative UPS Labor Pact

More than 150 local chapters of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters signed off on a tentative labor agreement with United Parcel Service Inc., clearing the way for ratification by the union’s rank and file.

Representatives from 161 locals met Monday in Washington, D.C., to review the $30 billion agreement, with just one voting against ratification and 14 others not attending, the union said. The vote was not a binding commitment, but rather a test of whether local Teamsters leaders would encourage their members to approve the deal when voting begins Thursday.
