LNG Builder Zachry Cuts Thousands of Jobs at Exxon’s Golden Pass

Zachry Holdings Inc. dismissed more than 3,000 workers at the Golden Pass liquefied natural gas project in Texas just days after the engineering and construction firm filed for protection from creditors.

At its peak, Zachry employed 6,000 workers at the site of a planned gas-export facility co-owned by Exxon Mobil Corp. and QatarEnergy LNG, according to a company statement on Thursday. Prior to the latest round of job cuts, that workforce already had been reduced by roughly half in response to a “cost reduction initiative” requested by the project’s owners.
