LinkedIn Pays $1.8 Million to End U.S. Labor Pay Bias Probe

LinkedIn Corp. agreed to pay $1.8 million to settle a Department of Labor investigation into alleged pay discrimination against women working in two of its California offices.

The DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs found that in 2015 through 2017, Sunnyvale, Calif.-based LinkedIn paid women working in their engineering, product, and marketing departments “at a statistically significant lower rate than their male counterparts,” according to a conciliation agreement made public Monday.

The $1.8 million settlement accounts for back pay and interest for class members, who consist of women who worked in those three departments in San Francisco and Sunnyvale. ...
