Limits on Child Labor in Agriculture to Get House Panel Hearing

The US House Education and Labor Workforce Protections Subcommittee will focus on child labor in agriculture next week, looking closely at a measure that would increase protections for young workers.

Sponsored by Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-Calif.), the Children’s Act for Responsible Employment and Farm Safety (H.R. 7345), or the CARE Act, would tighten restrictions on child labor by prohibiting the employment of children under the age of 14, as well as increasing the civil penalties for violations of existing laws.
