Leggett & Platt Returns to Labor Board for Union-Ousting Case

Leggett & Platt Inc. will get a second chance to avoid a federal labor board judgment against it for ousting a union that represented workers at the manufacturer’s Kentucky-based mattress-making operation since 1965.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit Aug. 7 granted the National Labor Board’s request to send the case back. The board wants to reconsider the case in light of its recent ruling that reworked its legal framework for assessing an employer’s withdrawal of union recognition.
