Legal Services of New York City was hit with a lawsuit Friday by its former Neighborhood Stabilization Project director, who says that during her tenure in the nonprofit there was a pervasive culture of racism nurtured by its leaders.
Alexis Lorenzo, a Black Latina female, worked for Legal Services since September 2010 in different roles, and says that several supervisors discriminated, harassed, and retaliated against her because of her race, age, and disability. And that the culture of racism fostered by its leaders “emboldened non-managerial White staff to harass and discriminate” against her.
