Learjet Workers Lose Group Status in Age Discrimination Dispute

Workers suing Learjet Inc. and parent Bombardier Inc. must pursue their age discrimination allegations individually after they failed to show they’re similarly situated, undoing their conditional collective status.

There’s no evidence of a common biased policy supporting group status under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the US District Court for the District of Kansas said. The workers lost their jobs under different circumstances and face individualized defenses, the March 1 opinion decertifying the collective said.
