LAX Catering Workers Sue Sky Chefs for Allegedly Unpaid Overtime

Sky Chefs Inc. was hit with a proposed class action Dec. 11 by Los Angeles International Airport catering workers who say the company calculates their overtime pay based on a formula that doesn’t take into consideration Los Angeles’s living wage ordnance.

LSG Sky Chefs employee Norma Espino and three other named plaintiffs hope to represent a class of workers who allegedly received as little as $3.74 per hour for overtime. Sky Chefs may owe hundreds of thousands of dollars in back wages, according to Unite Here Local 11, which represents the workers.
