Lawmakers Grapple With ERA Path Forward After Court Ruling

Proponents of the Equal Rights Amendment in the Senate made a renewed push to ratify the amendment during a heated hearing just as a federal appeals court dealt another blow to its supporters.

The Senate Judiciary Committee met Tuesday to examine a joint resolution sponsored by Sens. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) that would remove the ratification deadline for the ERA and validate it as an amendment to the US Constitution.
