Lawmakers Again Seek More Time in US for Laid-Off H-1B Workers

A group of California lawmakers is redoubling the pressure on US Citizenship and Immigration Services to extend the grace period for laid-off foreign tech workers to find new employment before losing legal status in the US.

Foreign workers on H-1B specialty occupation visas, which are especially popular in the tech industry, have 60 days after their employment is terminated to find a new employer to sponsor their visa, seek a new visa status, or leave the country.
