Landry’s Agrees to Pay $1 Million in Tip Pool Settlement

Landry’s agreed to pay $1 million to settle a lawsuit by servers who say their restaurant pooled tips and gave distributions to employees who aren’t allowed to receive them.

The case involves a class of current and former servers at Boston’s Chart House restaurant. The parties estimate 100 or more people are eligible to join the class.

Judge Allison D. Burroughs of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts gave preliminary approval to the settlement Aug. 15. She’ll consider several factors, including reaction by potential class members, in deciding whether to grant final approval.
