Lactating KFC Worker Awarded $1.5M for Sex Bias, Harassment

A KFC franchisee in Delaware must pay $1.5 million to a female employee who was denied a private place to express breast milk.

A federal jury found in favor of Autumn Lampkins Feb. 8 on her claims against Mitra QSR KNE LLC, which owns and operates the Camden, Del., Kentucky Fried Chicken store where Lampkins worked. Lampkins alleged sex discrimination based on her demotion to a lesser-paying shift supervisor position and her transfer with fewer hours to a store in Dover, which she claimed was motivated by her status as a lactating woman.
