While the US Labor Department’s wage division is trying to rebuild its investigative force across the US, it’s also losing the battle to curb staff attrition this summer.
The DOL’s Wage and Hour Division currently has 774 investigators, down from 784 at the end of June, according to the union representing WHD staff.
The division has announced another 68 to 70 open investigator positions, with the goal of filling those positions by the end of the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, the agency told The National Council of Field Labor Locals in a meeting Thursday.
