Labor Priorities Buried Under Congress’ Post-Recess Calendar (1)

Major labor reform proposals and stagnant nominations may go on the backburner as Congress returns from summer break and lawmakers face a time crunch to address other priorities.

With less than four months left in the term, Democratic leadership plans to home in on legislative efforts over gun safety, infrastructure, and prescription drug pricing—all controversial topics sure to dredge up a battle with Republicans. This could delay consideration of nominees to lead worker protection agencies, as well as legislation that would broaden labor rights, expand joint employer liability, and make it easier for workers to bring discrimination claims.
