The U.S. Department of Labor’s independent watchdog warned that the agency’s training arm has inefficiently used up to $489 million in workforce training grants in the past 10 years.
The Office of Inspector General report, dated March 31, said that the Employment and Training Administration has struggled to ensure grants are being awarded to applicants who meet all of the funding requirements, to oversee how those getting the grants are spending the funds, and ensuring the grants are performing as intended.
ETA has told the IG that it’s currently training staff to perform “effective risk assessments and monitoring reviews” ...
