The Department of Labor is asking a federal court to issue a nationwide temporary restraining order and injunction against Fayette Janitorial Service LLC for allegedly illegally employing children, according to a Wednesday news release.
During a Wage and Hour Division investigation, the company was allegedly found to be employing children to clean and sanitize spaces and dangerous kill floor equipment during overnight shifts to fulfill sanitation contracts at a Perdue Farms plant in Accomac, Va., and at Seaboard Triumph Foods LLC in Sioux City, Iowa, in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the DOL said.
