Labor Department Plans Rules to Formalize Existing Directives

Federal contractors can anticipate new rulemaking and additional guidance from the Labor Department, the head of the agency’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs said at an Oct. 23 town hall-style meeting.

The OFCCP hopes to propose two rules and an information collection review, to formalize already-existing agency directives, OFCCP Director Craig Leen said. The more formal rulemaking procedures will focus on the agency’s revised affirmative action plan program, a voluntary corporate-wide compliance program, and steps to resolve noncompliance findings in audits, said Leen.
