Labor Department Halts Job Corps Services to Avoid Virus Spread

The Labor Department is suspending operations at all 121 Job Corps centers in response to the coronavirus public health emergency, sending home thousands of students taking part in the agency’s expansive, live-in training program for underserved youth.

There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus at any of the centers, which are located in all 50 states plus Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico, the agency said Tuesday. DOL is temporarily shuttering the centers through at least April 14 as a precaution to protect participants’ health and safety.
