A Florida Catholic university didn’t violate federal labor law when it stopped recognizing the faculty’s union because it is exempt due a religious carveout, according to the National Labor Relations Board.
The NLRB’s three member panel, including Democrats Lauren McFerran and David Prouty, refused to narrow the labor law exemption for religious schools in its decision Monday that Saint Leo University meets all of the criteria to fall outside the jurisdiction of the National Labor Relations Act.
